Did you know that today is World Mental Health Day?

World Mental Health Day was first celebrated in 1992 and was the initiative of the WFMH World Federation for Mental Health. It has since been recognised on the 10th October every year. It’s a day dedicated globally to the awareness of Mental Health and the major effects that it can have on people’s lives worldwide. Every year there is an official theme, this years’ theme – Mental Health is a universal human right.

At We Are Acuity we care deeply about the mental health and wellbeing of all of our employees and we have various initiatives in place in order to support this, a few examples are:

Free access to an EAP (Employee Assistance Program) through Health Assured which provides each of our employees and their immediate family members with confidential help, support and where appropriate counselling to deal with personal problems that may be affecting their health and wellbeing.

We have a dedicated ‘Wellbeing’ channel on teams where we regularly share content on wellbeing topics. This can be anything from sharing a link to a documentary series to watch or sharing inspirational quotes, to posting newsletter articles on topics such as ‘Depression and Self Care’ or ‘Celebrating Pride Month’.

Once a month, as part of a whole agency meeting we share and watch a video or webinar together on a wellbeing subject. We have watched some truly inspirational real-life stories from speakers including Katie Piper - The Katie Piper Foundation, Andy Reid MBE, Gemma Oaten 🌱 and Sally Gunnell OBE as part of this which have all been amazing.

We also encourage regular anonymous feedback through our performance platform Officevibe allowing everyone to voice their comments in a safe space. This allows us to gain real insights into our teams thoughts and feelings and provides us with metrics in areas such as Relationships with peers and managers, Satisfaction, Recognition, Happiness and Wellness.

We also provide trained Mental Health First Aiders.

What do you do to support the mental health and wellbeing of your employees and colleagues?
