Most marketing isn’t failing because people don’t like you.
It’s failing because choosing you feels like hard work.
The offer is vague, or worse, overcomplicated. The website makes people hunt. The brochure says everything except the useful bit. The photography feels generic or fake. The contact form asks for too much.
None of it is catastrophic. It’s just slightly harder than it needs to be. The customer might want the thing and they might even be close to buying it.
But people are busy. Tired. Distracted. Comparing you with three others. Half-reading on a phone. Trying to work out whether you’re good, if you’re real, if you’re for them or if they’re about to make a decision they’ll regret.
So clarity becomes a commercial advantage.
It helps people understand what you do, why it matters, what makes you different, what happens next and why they should trust you.
This is what good design, copy, branding and marketing should do. Remove friction and make a business easier to recognise, to remember, to believe and ultimately, to choose.
It’s much more than “make it look nice” (although yes, it should also look nice).
At We Are Acuity, a lot of what we do comes back to this. Helping businesses communicate more clearly, more consistently and with a bit more thought than the thing they threw together because it had to go out that afternoon.
People don’t owe you their attention. If choosing you feels like hard work, plenty of them won’t give you any.
