Watch out, LinkedIn now has a ‘Seems like AI slop’ button that lets you report generic, non-human guff.
LinkedIn says it wants real people and real points of view to stand out, and is actively trying to reduce repetitive, low-substance content in the feed.
Which feels like a pretty reasonable ambition. The number of similar posts I see that feel generic, over-polished and lacking in substance is increasing.
I don’t think LinkedIn is restricting the use of AI (hopefully) – it’s a tool I use to write posts. Instead it’s trying to work out whether anyone had a thought first.
Someone still has to notice something interesting, have an opinion about it and know when the idea needs an edit or simply a better subject.
That’s judgement, and it’s clearly becoming more valuable.
So I quite like LinkedIn’s new button. I haven’t used it yet, have you?
Let's talk.
