What is distributed marketing?

All week LinkedIn has been buzzing with debate around the latest offering from OpenAI. In this, the second of our specialist questions for #chatgptWe Are Acuity continues to test how clever the interactive chatbot is on the subject of #marketing.

Could we learn a thing or two?

In case you missed the news, the chatbot powered by machine learning has already devoured the entire internet, reading the collective works of humanity and learning the patterns that exist in our language so it can copy them. And adoption by us humans has been just phenomenal. Over one million users in just 5 days since its launch in November 2022.

When you consider Instagram took 2.5 months, Spotify 7 months and Netflix 3 years to get to those numbers, that’s unprecedented. But in response to these sensational headlines, all kinds of trials have been thrown at ChatGPT in the last 7 days.

On the one hand we expected the AI chatbot to write perfect novels. But on the other we created apps like #GPTZero to recognise its fingerprints. A tough gig for anyone. But the commentary on our post suggested people were just interested, rather than concerned. Most felt it lacked the flair of a gifted human being, but to compare against a human it would probably only be at primary school!

So, here’s the next question we asked it…

What is distributed marketing?

  • Distributed marketing is a marketing strategy that leverages a network of partners, affiliates, or local offices to reach a wider audience and extend the reach of a brand.

  • Instead of relying solely on a central marketing team, distributed marketing involves empowering local partners and affiliates to promote the brand and its products or services.

  • This can include providing them with marketing materials, training, and support, as well as giving them the flexibility to tailor their marketing efforts to meet the needs of their local market.

  • The goal of distributed marketing is to reach a wider audience, build brand awareness and loyalty, and drive sales through a more targeted and effective approach.

So how did it do? Is that clear enough to understand? As experts in distributed marketing it seems pretty clear to We Are Acuity. But you tell us.
