Collaboration is key.

Collaboration in Automotive Marketing

Henry Ford (you know him, the ‘Car Man’!) once said, “If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself.” What Mr. Ford was alluding to is that collaboration, at all levels, is a key component to success.

Collaboration between automotive manufacturers and their dealer networks for example, particularly in marketing, is crucial for several reasons. A strong partnership will ensure that campaigns are aligned, coherent, and effectively target the right audience. Manufacturers have the resources to create national campaigns, while dealers possess invaluable local knowledge, enabling them to tailor these strategies to specific regional markets. This localisation is key to addressing different customer demographics, preferences, and needs, ensuring that the marketing is relevant and impactful at both national and local levels.

When manufacturers and dealers work together, they can deliver a consistent brand message across all channels. Dealers are the primary point of contact for customers, they are at the ‘coal face’ if you will, and by aligning marketing efforts, they can reinforce the brand’s values and offerings, from digital activities through to the showroom experience.

Collaboration allows for shared resources and expertise. Manufacturers can provide dealers with marketing assets, training, and technical tools, while dealers offer insights into customer behaviour, local trends, and competitor insights. This ultimately leads to more effective campaigns, higher customer engagement, and increased sales and brand loyalty. In my experience, manufacturers and networks that collaborate in this way, are among the most successful, particularly during more challenging times.
