We Are Acuity's Commonwealth Games 2022.

The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games in #Birmingham may have ended with a fantastic result for #Australia (First), the #UK (Second) and #Canada (Third), but the unmissable We Are Acuity Commonwealth Games 2022 took place yesterday in #Watford!

With a focus on the pool table, pizza and cake eating as well as mini-games (involving chocolate) arranged by Tiff it was a real fun filled day in the sunshine!

Our four round knockout Pool Tournament had tough competition between the 13 participants. Initially trick shots came aplenty from the Acuity hustlers, with plenty of oooos and aaaahs from the watching crowd. Don’t beat the boss was swiftly out the window before lunch. 2021’s champ Mike fought hard through the rounds to try and retain the trophy for another year, with stiff competition from the whole team.

Was it enough and what would the medal table look like at the end of the day?

Proceedings were paused at 12.30 when fresh Pizza was ready hot from the oven outside, with a delightful range of gourmet toppings. From the old favourites of Margherita and Pepperoni to Meatballs, Brie and Caramelised Onion and Cheese with Balsamic Glaze there was something for everyone. Despite there being enough to feed a small army, the We Are Acuity team delivered gold all round. Washed down of course with Moretti or Gruppo Sanpellegrino.

For those that were still in the game this was followed by Cristina’s delicious Romanian Rum cake, a recipe fiercely guarded as it was passed through the generations of her family. Yum!

Suitably refreshed and back to the action, the mini-games commenced with the After-Eight Challenge. Get the chocolate from your forehead into your mouth without using your hands or arms in the shortest time possible. Tiff came in with a gold medal winning personal best of 3.12 secs (and she’s had plenty of practice we can assure you!), James took home silver with 10 sec and Andy bronze with 11.02.

The pool tournament lasted well into the early evening, then the results came in… in the semis, Graeme beat Alan and James squeezed past Mike. Mike then beat Alan to take Third place and James pipped Graeme into First place (making Graeme Second). Much jubilation ensued and James eventually prised the trophy from Mike’s vice like grip. Amazon vouchers were duly delivered to the medal winners and the closing ceremony commenced.

What a great day! Our thanks to the amazing Acuity Team for giving us all such a great laugh and plenty of fun memories. Here’s to next year! A big thanks to RUFF WOOD PIZZA COMPANY LIMITED for the awesome grub and a special mention to Tracy for arranging everything.
