Acuity Menu

Engaging with local festivals.

In July, We Are Acuity held our annual summer social. Always loads of fun, this year we returned to St Albans' brilliant Comedy Garden for plenty of laughs, great food, and several drinks. And what a fantastic evening we all had.

This year, comedy scene veterans including Nish Kumar, Harry Hill, Ross Noble, Jo Brand, Simon Amstell, Dara Ó Briain, Tim Key, Fern Brady, Henning Wehn, Reginald D Hunter, Lily Phillips, Red Richardson, Jarred Christmas, and Josh Widdicombe, along with many up-and-coming names, performed in the big top across five nights.

This brilliant event, launched in 2021, has quickly become a local summertime hit.

Who doesn’t enjoy a good laugh with friends, right? Especially with easy access to bars stocked full of BrewDog, @Hawkes - London, the The French Kiss Club, and Pimentae Drinks, paired with gourmet street food from a host of local artisans. All in the gorgeous surroundings of Verulamium Park. What’s not to like!

It's a brilliant example of a great local event, bringing the wider community together in a real feel-good experience. What brand wouldn’t want a piece of that action?

As a group of marketers with more than a little expertise in automotive, we couldn’t help but notice that for the second year running, the headline partner was heycar, one of the UK’s leading online new and used car marketplaces.

Clearly a sharp cookie, Chief Marketing Officer Dermot Kelleher said: “We’re delighted to continue as presenting partner for our third year working with our friends at St Albans Comedy Garden. With a fantastic line-up of the UK’s top comedians, heycar is thrilled to continue being part of the summer of feel-good.”

Online-only brands often struggle without a physical presence, and this kind of event with local activation, community engagement, and brand-building is perfect. This is a great pairing with a perfect audience.

The Comedy Garden is produced by sibling team Will Briggs and Cass Randolph of 57 FESTIVALS; the pair produce a series of critically acclaimed summer festivals, deliver a year-round programme of shows and tours, and provide bespoke comedy programming for other festivals and venues.

So, a big thank you to 57 Festivals, thanks to the We Are Acuity team for a great night, and great move heycar for some brilliant local engagement!
