As many of you know, We Are Acuity are passionate about supporting local businesses and fostering community engagement. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve officially been awarded member status as part of the Watford Business Pledge on 4th December 2024.

This brilliant initiative by Watford Borough Council is all about promoting social responsibility and sustainability within the local business community, and we’re excited to be part of it.

The Watford Business Pledge focuses on five key commitments that encourage businesses to:
👍 Be an employer of choice – adopt good employment practices.
👍 Support local employment – focus on recruitment and training locally.
👍 Support the community – direct social value activities within Watford.
👍 Buy local – prioritise local suppliers where possible.
👍 Adopt a green approach – implement environmentally sustainable practices.
As a pledge member, we’ve demonstrated positive action in all these areas. By doing so, we’re helping our employees, customers, and suppliers thrive, while contributing to Watford’s communities and economy.

We were especially proud to receive such positive feedback from the programme’s Assessor Panel, who noted:

“Clear focus on creating an environment where employees can thrive, strong use of local suppliers, and excellent progress on sustainability.” Watford Borough Council

The Watford Business Pledge is a fantastic example of how local businesses of all sizes can come together, share knowledge, and collaborate on key issues like local employment, sustainability, and community support.

It’s also a great example of how local authorities can engage with their business community to create significant value, while supporting the long-term growth and sustainability of local enterprises.

With Watford recently ranked as the UK’s top place in the 2024 Vitality Index, initiatives like this ensure our town continues to be a brilliant place to live, work, and grow.

But it’s also something that could inspire similar initiatives across the country.
