The secret to High Street success...

The High Street is ever changing. Wherever you live, you will at some point have spotted the ‘Coming soon’ and ‘We’re sad to leave you’ signs that pop up, signalling a new era for local businesses. This has always been the case including with our very own in #Watford, adapting to the new and saying goodbye to the old.

Watford has recently said goodbye to Bill's Restaurants ( 😪 ), which has closed its doors after serving Watford for many years, whilst fellow Watford Business J D Wetherspoon have recently announced that they are closing 31 pubs, including 'The Columbia Press' on Watford High Street. But with closures, must also come openings! A fantastic new Latin themed bar, , opened just last week and is the fifth bar in the Nightcap Event Group Ltd.'s ever-growing chain. Similarly, be sure to visit the The Beech House, Oakman Inns & Restaurants Ltd fifth addition to this much-loved brand, in Watford last month.

But what ensures a #HighStreet retailer stands the test of time? There are many factors to consider, some are out of a businesses’ control, but there are many things a retailer can do to help themselves and one in particular is the ever-important #digitalmarketing .

Taking the wonderful Oakman Inns & Restaurants (well done Alex Ford)as an example, their #socialmedia is full of updates on new menu options, their sustainability ethos and topical posts on Halloween to really intrigue their audience. They’re also running paid social, sharing news of festive offers to reach potential new consumers and grow their brand loyalty even further! Great examples of engaging #localmarketing!

Utilising the digital realm locally can be seen as alien for some brands, and almost not needed, but every day it becomes more and more prevalent in ensuring the success of everything from little cafes to large retailers. From #PPC, ensuring your business gains more local visibility and reaches consumers before your competitors, to #PaidSocial, where you can target potential customers based on location, hobbies, interests or job titles (and much more!) to ensure your message reaches exactly who you need it to!

There really is a wealth of opportunity out there for local businesses to build their brand digitally, but not everyone knows where to start. Is your digital advertising working hard enough for you? Are you really seeing the results that you need? Or, do you need extra support in this area to maximise your sales opportunities?

At We Are Acuity we’ve been working with national brands who sell through local partners whether those are branches, retailers, dealers, franchisees, or affiliates for over 20 years, with our expert team managing local digital advertising campaigns from start to finish.
