We are open for business!

We are open for business.

Graeme Airey: As Creative Lead at an agency, I often wonder what drives new clients to get in touch. A great number of our clients have been with us for many, many years. But what ignites the relationship?

Something a freelance Graphic Designer mentioned to me the other day got me thinking. She spoke about how she picked up work from a very large national brand after being discovered on LinkedIn.

When they asked her to create new material and infographics for a marketing campaign, they stated how they wanted someone local and agile; they didn’t want to “get lost in a slick agency’s processes” and not be afforded the attention they demanded, fearing delivery would take longer and be more costly if they went to an agency like... ...well, like us!

I don’t know if they were basing this desire on a poor past experience and hadn’t received due care and attention, or maybe it was an 'inspired' decision by a savvy marketer to save money (I’m confident the material the freelancer delivered was top-notch, and her quote wouldn’t need to reflect the overheads an agency has to factor in).

Whatever the reason, I couldn’t help but feel a little bit jealous, and sad we had missed out.

Especially as this prospect was a business based in We Are Acuity’s home town of #watford , so we ticked at least one of their prerequisite boxes, by being just up the road.

It was a business we could have produced equally great work for and potentially opened up to more relevant audiences, or provided greater insight supported by years of collective experience.

Perhaps they may have visited our website but decided not to get in touch. If that had been the case I wondered how could our website have encouraged this particular business to reach out to us?

How do you appeal to everyone?

I’m not sure you can.

We promote ourselves by focusing on the work we truly excel at (our USP) which is local marketing for large brands. If a business is looking for an agency to provide this service yet decides not to get in touch, frankly, it’s their loss.

As I’m sure many of you know, We Are Acuity are truly excellent at tailoring a brand's national marketing campaigns to suit local audiences, activating that brand and creating real local engagement.

And throughout our 25 years focusing on this USP with aplomb, we've naturally also been asked to deliver lots of #design#advertising and #marketing that isn't always ‘localised’.

And btw we’re pretty excellent at that too, we just don’t shout about it. So should we I wondered?

Well here goes: "Whatever your marketing needs if you fancy a chat, why not give me a call and don't worry about getting lost 'in a 'slick agency's processes' (we have those too, but they never get in the way). Just read some of our glowing Google reviews. We are very much open for business."
