Purpose-built for retailers: BYD Nexus.

BYD UK needed a fast, secure way to keep a rapidly growing retailer network aligned with the latest approved communications and resources. We Are Acuity created BYD Nexus, a retailer communications portal designed to act as a single source of truth for BYD head office teams and franchised retailers.

Challenge

BYD’s retailer network was expanding quickly, but like many National Sales Companies there was no single source of truth for communications, documents, or even a consistently up to date view of who was active at each retailer site. Updates were fragmented across email threads and attachments, making it harder for retailers to find the current version and harder for head office teams to maintain control and consistency as the network grew.

The challenge was not just to build a portal. It was to create a secure, scalable system that improves clarity and governance without creating a heavy admin burden for BYD. The smart move was designing the model so retailers manage their own user access and team lists in return for access to BYD Nexus. This keeps network data current at source while giving BYD ongoing visibility.

Insight

The portal had to do two things at once. Make publishing and access control simple for BYD teams, and make finding the right information effortless for retailers. Retailer portals only succeed when people choose to use them, so the experience also needed to feel like a premium brand touchpoint. A polished, intuitive, brand immersive experience signals that BYD values its retail partners, helping to build goodwill and drive adoption across the network.

BYD's Nexus portal works equally well on mobile devices, meaning the network can search for the latest information wherever they are.

Solution

We built BYD Nexus as a branded, mobile friendly portal with:

  • Secure login with role based access driven by BYD roles, including department access and confidentiality levels
  • A structured publish process. Upload content, create a document entry with the right tags, then publish so it appears in the right sections
  • Dashboards that surface newly added content automatically, plus Featured content for time sensitive items
  • Permission aware notifications grouped and sent once every 24 hours, plus in platform notifications to avoid inbox fatigue
  • Retailer admin roles to invite users and manage access locally, keeping team records current at source

Results

BYD Nexus went live internally ahead of retailer invitations, enabling phased onboarding and controlled rollout. The platform provides a scalable foundation for retailer communications, improving clarity, governance and day to day efficiency as BYD’s network continues to expand.
