2022 registrations predicted worst in 4 decades. But it's not all bad...

Facebook ads for automotive dealers

Earlier this month the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) slashed its full-year outlook for UK car registrations by 2.2%, as supply chain issues, soaring inflation and the cost-of-living crisis threaten to limit consumer spending. It’s now looking like 2022 will be the worst year in four decades.

And whilst the electric vehicle (#EV) market has been booming, that could all change today with the Autumn Statement adding VED to electric cars for the first time. Could this trigger a downturn in sales after a record breaking 2021 when more than one in ten sales was an EV?

Tough times perhaps, but it’s not all bad news. October sales were strong and industry experts predict market recovery continuing through 2023 with next year’s registrations sitting at 1.8 million units bolstered by the drive to zero emissions motoring.

So, what can Dealers do to cost-effectively drive sales in these most challenging of times and capitalise on opportunities that are out there? Time for some good news, please read on…

While most still buy their car in a traditional showroom, it probably comes as no surprise that research has moved rapidly online. Just 4 years ago only 25% of people were researching their car that way according to Google but that’s now up at 94%.

With people browsing multiple online platforms like search, social and video, having highly relevant, engaging marketing content in a wide range of locations is a must have for local car dealers. Things like paid Facebook and Instagram for my Business Ads, Google Search Ads and Good Display Ads are absolutely vital.

But many automotive Retailers and Dealer Groups don’t have the time or expertise in-house to run this crucial local marketing activity right now. Sound familiar?

With pressure across automotive businesses at the moment on everything from recruitment, headcount, salaries, overheads, and stock availability many Dealers have been asking We Are Acuity ‘can you just do our paid digital advertising for us?’.

So, as well as doing it for some of the biggest brands in Automotive, I’m delighted to say we are also making this available directly to independent Retailers and Dealer Groups!
